Our wildlife are indicators of a healthy environment, including watersheds. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will be presenting the periodic status review of the Western Gray Squirrel that is currently identified as a threatened species. If you see the Western Gray Squirrel please use the WDFW wildlife reporting form. These animals are threatened by habitat loss and degradation (they live in oak woodlands and conifer forests that are disappearing due to development and commercial lumber harvesting), wildfires, highway mortality, and disease.
